Creating a 3D Flythrough Animation with a Drone Video That Helped Pre-sell Beachfront Properties in Mexico
Coastal Development Partners is a U.S.-based corporation specializing in real estate development in Zihuatanejo — a paradise-like resort city on Mexico’s Pacific Coast. Their current project, the Las Olas beachfront community, is a true embodiment of the company’s motto: “Make your dream of beach living a reality.”
To kick off pre-sales for the off-plan villas, Coastal Development Partners turned to architectural 3D visualization and reached out to our team. We helped bring their vision to life by creating a lifelike 3D flythrough animation of the future community — an essential marketing asset for attracting potential buyers.
Curious how these 3D visuals are created and why they’re so effective for real estate developers? Read on!
#1. Scope of Work
Our task was to create a 40-second 3D flythrough animation highlighting the stunning oceanside location, the layout of the Las Olas community, and the proposed villa designs.
The scenario unfolds as follows:
- The 3D animation opens with breathtaking ocean views and a wide shot of the shoreline, with numbered lot lines already visible on the site.
- As the camera circles the area, revealing lush tropical greenery and Sierra Madre del Sur mountains in the background, the villa 3D models drop into place from above.
- Finally, landscaping elements and additional greenery are added to complete the scene.
The final 3D flythrough animation needed to include a light, relaxed music track that would help to convey the tranquil atmosphere of coastal living.
#2. References
To create the flythrough animation, we used the camera tracking technique. This means that we combined real-life drone video with 3D models of the future buildings. In such a way, we saved our client plenty of money and time. The latter was especially important as the construction was already underway, and there was an urgent need for promotional materials to support marketing and sales efforts without delay.
For this task, we received the following references:
- architectural drawings;
- SketchUp models of the future structures;
- SketchUp model of the site;
- the layout of the future community;
- drone videos and photos of the location;
- Google Maps location.
You can see some of these references above.

#3. Project Results and Marketing Usage
Below, you can check out the 3D flythrough animation of the Las Olas community we delivered.
This flythrough animation fully immerses viewers in the vision of Las Olas. As requested, it captures the site layout, architectural concept, and breathtaking oceanfront location — all presented in a creative and memorable way.
Here is what our client wrote in our CRM system once he saw the final result:
“Thank you. You guys do exceptional work, and I appreciate your patience with the changes and revisions that we had. But the result is outstanding! Thank you for your meticulous work and attention to detail. It has been a pleasure.” — Jeffrey Wike, Assistant Managing Partner at Coastal Development Partners
The client has been extensively using the 3D flythrough animation across a variety of marketing channels, including their website, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. And the campaign is already bearing fruit — four lots have been successfully pre-sold, with more sales on the horizon.
We are grateful to the Coastal Development Partners team for the seamless collaboration and look forward to taking on more of their inspiring projects.
