To create a 3D floor plan from a 2D drawing, you trace the walls, doors and windows to scale, add the floor levels, place furniture, set materials and lighting, and render the image. You can do it yourself in floor plan software or order it from a studio. ArchiCGI builds a 3D floor plan from your drawing from $99 per plan, delivers one plan in 48 hours and a series of 10 or more in about 10 days.
Prices on this page were last checked in October 2026.
The steps to turn a 2D plan into 3D
- Collect the drawing. Use a CAD file if you have one. A PDF, a scan or a clear sketch with dimensions also works as a starting point.
- Fix the scale and units. Agree on feet or meters, and check one known dimension, such as a door width, against the drawing.
- Trace the walls. Draw the outer walls first and then the inner ones, using the wall thickness from the drawing.
- Add doors, windows and stairs at their exact positions and sizes.
- Set the floor levels and ceiling height, so that a two-storey home becomes two connected levels.
- Place the furniture. Choose a style for the target buyer and keep the same style across a series of plans.
- Apply materials and lighting, then render the view you need: top view, angle view or a cutaway of the whole home.
- Check the result against the drawing. Compare room sizes, door positions and the furniture layout, then export the image at print or web resolution.
Two ways to make a 3D floor plan
| Floor plan software | A rendering studio | |
|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | You trace, furnish and render the plan | A 3D artist builds it from your drawing |
| Input | Dimensions and a drawing | CAD file, PDF, scan or sketch |
| Time | Your own working hours for each plan | 48 hours for one plan, about 10 days for a series of 10 or more |
| Price | Depends on the software plan you choose | From $99 per plan, volume discounts from 10 plans |
| Style across a series | You keep the camera angle, furniture and labels the same by hand | One camera angle, one furniture style and one labeling style for the whole set |
| Best for | A single room or a personal project | Listings, pre-sale brochures, unit sets and presentations |
What to prepare before you order or start

- A drawing of every level you need, with dimensions. A CAD file works best.
- The units of measurement and the names of the floors and rooms.
- Whether the rooms should be furnished or left empty.
- Style references for furniture, materials and colors.
- The view you need: top view, angle view or dollhouse.
- The number of plans, if you have several unit types.
Types of 3D floor plans
| Type | What it shows | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Top view | The plan seen from above, with walls, furniture and finishes | Listing pages and comparing layouts side by side |
| Angle view | The same plan tilted to show wall height, windows and how the rooms connect | Presenting materials and furnishing |
| Dollhouse | A cutaway of a whole home or building with several levels and the surroundings | One image of the entire property |
| Full set | Every unit type of a building in one consistent style | Pre-sale brochures, sales centers and project websites |

How ArchiCGI builds a 3D floor plan from your drawing
- Send the drawings, your style references and the levels you need. Tell us whether the rooms should be furnished.
- A client manager sends a fixed quote within an hour.
- The team builds the plan from your drawing, so walls, doors, windows and room sizes follow the documentation. You review the layout, openings and furniture placement, and we agree the units and floor names with you.
- You check the intermediate results in the ArchiCGI workspace and leave notes directly on the image. Two review rounds are included.
- You receive the finished plans in 4K, ready for listings, brochures, presentations and ads. The same files work for print and for the web.

What a 3D floor plan costs and how long it takes
| Price | Time | |
|---|---|---|
| One 3D floor plan | from $99 | About 48 hours after the brief is complete |
| Series of 10 or more unit plans | Volume discount | About 10 days for the whole set |
The final price depends on the size of the property, the number of levels, the view type and whether the rooms are furnished. Furniture from the library of 100,000+ 3D models is included in the price, and two review rounds are in the price. The full list of prices for interiors, exteriors, tours and animation is on the 3D rendering prices page.
Tips for a clear 3D floor plan
- Show every unit of a building from the same angle and orientation, so buyers compare like with like.
- Keep one furniture style and one labeling style across the set, with the same background, room names and legend.
- Name the files by unit type, so they go straight into a sales website, a unit finder or a brochure layout.
- Furnish vacant or renovated homes. A furnished plan next to the photos helps buyers understand a listing in seconds.
